Caroline Rivera-Martinez was Good Samaritan Hospital’s Samaritan of the Month for the satellites in March. She joined Good Samaritan in 2008 and is a vital member of the Martin Luther King Jr., Community Health Center in Wyandanch. In addition to being a team player, Ms. Rivera-Martinez’s co-workers say she is a patient and friendly person who is a pleasure to work.

An aortic dissection is a serious condition in which a tear develops in the inner layer of the aorta, a large artery that exits the heart and delivers blood to the body. Blood surges through this tear into the middle layer of the aorta, causing the inner and middle layers to separate (dissect).

Good Samaritan Hospital’s Samaritan of the Month for March was delivery room nurse Carol Wyckoff, RN. Since joining Good Samaritan in 2005 she has cared for patients with compassion as if they were a member of her family. She loves to interact with the siblings as well as the newborns. There are times she is confronted with unfortunate situations which challenge her skills.
