Respiratory Care


Respiratory care is a dynamic, high-tech, high-touch department involving direct patient care. The department is staffed 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week by licensed respiratory therapists. Services which are provided to patients with disorders of the cardiopulmonary system include diagnostic testing, therapeutics, monitoring and rehabilitation. Patient, family and public education are essential to the mission of the department. Respiratory therapists are assigned to all inpatient nursing units to provide therapeutic services to patients with disorders of the cardiopulmonary system including neonatal, pediatric and adult patients.

Pulmonary Function Laboratory
The pulmonary function laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for the diagnosis of lung diseases including asthma, emphysema and other pulmonary problems. Information and scheduling for these tests can be obtained by calling (631) 376-4108.

Included within the scope of the laboratory is testing focused on exercise-induced asthma within the pediatric population. For children there is a separate Pulmonary Function Laboratory located at Good Samaritan's Center for Pediatric Specialty Care at 655 Deer Park Avenue, Babylon, NY 11702.
