Video Diary of Young Woman’s Weight-Loss Success

January 14th, 2014

In the nine months since Good Samaritan Hospital surgeon Jonathan Klonsky, MD, successfully performed gastric bypass surgery on 25-year-old Elyse Capozza, she has lost 151 pounds, works in her field of teaching and is an inspiration to others wanting to get healthier. Today she is a determined and disciplined 26-year-old woman with endless opportunities.

“A year after completing my masters in mathematics and months after my surgery I was given the opportunity to teach others,” said Ms. Capozza. “I feel so confident in front of my students.”

Ms. Capozza is proud to have kept her New Year’s resolution making it through her first holiday season remaining steadfast to her program and goals.

“The weekly support group I attend at Good Samaritan helped me get through the past nine months. Without the help of my new friends, I might have been tempted by old behaviors,” said Ms. Capozza.

Follow Ms. Capozza’s weight loss journey and share in her success in a video diary posted at Look for the next update in October of Ms. Capozza’s one year anniversary visit.
