Scherer Named Executive Director of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center Foundation

Kelly Albanese Scherer was recently appointed Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation. Most recently, she served as Assistant Vice President of Marketing Communications at CCS, a leading, global fundraising and non-profit management consulting firm. Prior to her role in marketing, Scherer worked with CCS’s clients, directing capital campaigns and fundraising initiatives for non-profit organizations ranging from health care institutions to Catholic parishes to independent media organizations in New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Canada.

In her new role as executive director, Scherer will oversee the philanthropic arm of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and will be responsible for promoting awareness, building relationships and raising funds to support the Medical Center and its efforts. Scherer has positioned the non-profit organizations that she has served for sustainable growth and has raised more than $35 million from corporate, foundation, and individual gifts. In addition, she has consulted in the health care sector for the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, Ottawa, Ontario; Community Health Network and Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, IN; Seton Health/St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, NY; Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, White Plains, NY; St. Francis-The Heart Hospital, Roslyn, NY; and Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, Allentown, PA.  

Scherer holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Iona College where she graduated Cum Laude. She has authored blogs and presented on topics related to fundraising and communications, and has facilitated trainings on fundraising for CCS, City University of New York (CUNY), Bank of America, Women’s Fund of Long Island, and New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She is an active member and serves on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) New York City Chapter. Scherer is also a member of the AFP Long Island Chapter and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). She resides in Huntington Station with her husband, Michael.
