Rob Karstens, RN, Named ‘Samaritan of the Month’
Rob Karstens, RN, was named one of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s “Samaritans of the Month” for February 2016. Rob’s tenure at Good Samarian began in 2007 as an ambulatory surgery aide. As a volunteer EMT with his local fire department, Rob felt a calling to work in the health profession. He became a registered nurse in 2011 and joined Good Samaritan’s B-unit as a staff nurse. In May he completed his bachelor’s degree at Adelphi University.
As he has developed professionally and clinically, Rob has assumed greater responsibilities at the hospital. He currently serves as a charge nurse and preceptor, helping to train and mentor newly hired nurses.
“I feel blessed when patients tell me how grateful they are for the care I provide, and I enjoy sharing that motivation with other members of the staff,” he said.
Since 1999, Good Samaritan’s “Samaritan of the Month” recognition has been awarded monthly to exemplary employees who consistently go above and beyond their assigned duties and live by the hospital’s mission to promote excellence in care and commit to those in need. Honorees receive a plaque and a gift from the hospital.
