Ragione Named Director of Clinical Informatics and Performance Improvement
Barbara Ragione, MS, RN, CPHIMS has been promoted to Director of Nursing Quality and Clinical Informatics and Performance Improvement for Good Samaritan Hospital. Barbara began her career with Good Samaritan as a Nursing Assistant in 1992.
She served as a RN in ICU from 1996-1999; and in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit from 1999-2007. From 2007 to 2012, Barbara was Performance Improvement Coordinator/Coordinator of Nursing Informatics and in 2012, was named Coordinator of Nursing Informatics/EMR Project Manager, where she served until her new promotion.
According to Gara Edelstein, RN, MSN, Sr. VP Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer for Good Samaritan, Barbara has been extremely instrumental in the hospital’s success with all aspects of the EPIC implementation as well as Mobilab implementation throughout the organization. She has recently assumed responsibility for the coordination of the Nursing Performance Improvement Program.
In her new role, she will continue to be the Operational lead for EPIC and will chair the Nursing Performance Improvement Committee. In addition, with the support of Michele Solomita, Clinical Nurse Specialist for Maternal Child Health and the new Magnet® Coordinator, Barbara will be assisting in the journey toward Magnet® re-designation.
Barbara has an AS and Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Farmingdale State College and an Masters of Science in Nursing Informatics from Walden University. She holds a Six Sigma Green Belt, is a Certified Professional in Health Information and Management Systems and a New York State Nursing License.
