Good Samaritan Nurse Receives Town of Islip Hispanic Heritage Award

October 2nd, 2014
Toni Jata, RN, a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, was among several members of the community recently honored at the Town of Islip Hispanic Heritage Celebration Awards. This event was established to recognize exceptional contributions made by residents who live and work in the town.

Jata was nominated primarily for her passion for mentoring nurses and being an advocate to Hispanic patients in the hospital and in the community. She was recognized for her dedication, hard work and the excellent bilingual communication skills she exhibits with doctors, patients and family members. She is also a strong advocate for those at the end of life, ensuring they are pain free and treated with dignity.

“I have been fortunate to work with so many talented newly licensed nurses at Good Samaritan. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing someone choose nursing as their career. Helping people is a calling,” said Jata.

Jata takes tremendous pride in being a member of the nursing profession as well as helping those in the community. She resides in Lake Grove.
