Good Samaritan Hospital Offers Free Car Seat Safety Program
During National Child Passenger Safety Week September 17-23, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center will offer car seat safety events at its Outpatient Rehabilitation Center located at 560 Union Boulevard in West Islip.
The events, held on Wednesday, September 20th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and Wednesday September 27th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm are by appointment only. Participants should bring all parts of the car seat, the instruction manual to the car seat(s) being installed, as well as the owner’s manual to their car for proper installation. Participants will be properly instructed on the use of LATCH, seat belts and top tethers when installing a car seat. They will also be educated on age, height and weight limitations on their car seats.
Good Samaritan’s Car Seat Safety Program – “Children Are Riding Everywhere Safely” – C.A.R.E.S., was established in 2002 and was the first hospital-based program on the South Shore of Long Island. The objective was to educate and assist parents and caregivers on the proper installation of their car restraint system in order to reduce potential injuries in the event of a motor vehicle accident.
All technicians are certified through the Safe Kids Worldwide Organization utilizing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrative curriculum.
