Good Samaritan Hospital Nurse Named Samaritan of the Month
Good Samaritan Hospital’s Samaritan of the Month for August was Toni Jata, RN. She has been a registered nurse on B Unit since 2002 and active member of the hospital’s Clinical Practice Committee. She is a past recipient of the Preceptor of the Year Nursing Award for achievement and exemplary skills in nursing. She is a role model, mentor, and support system to new nurses on the unit. Her focus is on the medical-surgical patient requiring mechanical ventilation. She volunteers teaching classes to ensure nurses are competent in this care.
Jata is an active volunteer participating at community health fairs and charitable runs as well as teaching religious education classes at her parish. She resides in Lake Grove.
Since 1999, Good Samaritan Hospital has recognized exemplary employees that consistently go above and beyond their assigned duties and live by the hospital mission to promote excellence in care and commit to those in need. Nominations are submitted for review to a committee from co-workers, supervisors and patients. Samaritans are surprised in their department with a bouquet of flowers. A Samaritan of the Month presentation is held at the hospital with their co-workers and family.
