Good Sam Names New Director of Pastoral Care
West Islip, N.Y. – Peggy Nixdorf has been named Director of Pastoral Care at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and Good Samaritan Nursing Home. An employee of Catholic Health Services for more than 17 years, Nixdorf will also continue in her role as Director of Pastoral Care at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center.
She became a registered nurse in 1995 after she completed her associate’s degree in nursing at Suffolk Community College in Selden. Nixdorf then completed a bachelor’s degree in health administration at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue in 1999. She was certified as a Chaplain with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, in 2004. At the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, she obtained her Master of Arts Degree in pastoral studies in 2009. She completed the National Catcholic Certification Program in Health Care Ethics with the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia in 2012.
She lives in Central Islip with her husband. They have three children, seven grandchildren and are parishinoers at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Islip Terrace.
