First Director of Good Samaritan’s Breast Health Center Honored at Women’s Health Symposium
“What a fabulous, well organized, empowering event,” commented a guest.
The program included a dedication honoring the Breast Health Center’s first director Jean Grunwald, RN. Ms. Grunwald was recognized for her leadership and commitment to women’s services at Good Samaritan resulting in the creation of its Breast Health Center―celebrating its 20th anniversary. Director of Good Samaritan’s Palliative Care Services Eileen Roberto, RN, (left) and Coordinator of Breast Health Services Bonnie Edsall, RN, (right) presented their mentor, Ms. Grunwald (center) with her award and flowers.
The Breast Health Center, the first of its kind on Long Island, was created in response to community concerns that there was a need for a comprehensive, patient-focused program entailing early detection and diagnosis, positive reinforcement through counseling and support, and effective treatment using the latest, state-of-the-art equipment in the battle against breast disease. In addition to these programs, Good Samaritan’s ongoing educational opportunities, health fairs and community initiatives all help to promote the message that early detection saves lives.
