A Local 8th Grader Gives Back in a Major Way

Erin Dunn, a Bay Shore middle school student, turned a difficult experience into a positive one for patients in Good Samaritan Hospital’s pediatric unit. She has been fundraising by selling cupcakes, lemonade and hand-made bracelets, as well as hosting raffles, to purchase iPads for use by Good Samaritan pediatric patients to stay connected with family and relax before procedures. Erin wished she could have communicated more with her mom, Karen, who was hospitalized in Florida while Erin was sent home to recover at Good Sam following a car accident. Since 2013, Erin and her fundraising friends have raised and donated more than $3,600 to Good Sam.
