Education & Research

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Mercy Medical Center places a large emphasis on academics.  Weekly protected time for didactic lectures, journal clubs, procedural workshops, cadaver workshops, guest lectures, grand rounds, PM&R board review, and online lecture series are paramount to training.  In addition, residents attend and participate in regional and national conferences throughout each year.

Protected Didactic Time is scheduled on Fridays from 8AM to 1PM with monthly Journal Club, Electrodiagnostic Lectures, Radiology Rounds and lectures from physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Various monthly lectures are also available at Mercy Medical Center and throughout our hospital system and include Pediatric, Orthopedic, Medical and Neurosurgical Grand Rounds as well as various noontime lectures.

Board Review is also built in to our didactic schedule so that each academic year the residents cover all chapters of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Board Review by Dr. Sara J. Cuccurullo.

Additionally we participate in workshops for Comprehensive EMG, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Functional Biomechanics and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Residents also receive training on Research and are responsible for completing research projects throughout their residency.
