Volunteer - Adult Volunteer Program: 18 Years and Older
Good Sam’s adult volunteers make a commitment to donate a minimum of 50 hours per year, usually accomplished in 4-hour shifts, once a week. Applicants learn about open areas of service and are asked to indicate available time and interests. Every effort will be made to match each volunteer with the opportunity of his or her choosing. Medical clearance, an interview, a security badge and orientation are required.
During the required interview, the applicant will be asked to join one of Good Samaritan’s Guilds. This is an opportunity for the volunteer to participate (on any level he/she chooses) in the fundraising, friend-raising, leadership and program aspects of Guild activities. In 2010, the Guilds donated more than $250,000 to the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, and approximately 800 volunteers gave more than 45,000 hours of service. Guild fund raisers include a thriving onsite gift shop, an offsite thrift shop, baby photos, newspapers, vendor sales, flower sales, bake sales and other individual Guild events. Volunteers work in almost all departments and their time, energy and skills are an invaluable contribution to the overall operation of the medical center.
