Town of Islip Honors Good Samaritan Nurse Practitioner

Babylon resident Jennifer Davis, ANP, a nurse practitioner at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, was among several members of the community recently honored at the Town of Islip Women’s History Celebration Awards. This event was established to recognize exceptional contributions made by local residents to the town.

Ms. Davis, who has been with Good Samaritan since 1999, first as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department and now a nurse practitioner in Neurosurgery, was nominated primarily for her dedication to patient care and her volunteer efforts in the community. Committed to doing whatever is necessary for her patients, Ms. Davis has always gone above and beyond to provide the highest quality of care. Additionally, she selflessly spends much of her free time helping organizations including volunteering for Camp Joslin, located in Charlton, Massachusetts, and affiliated with the Joslin Diabetes Center, during her vacations. Camp programs combine camping, sports and fun with diabetes education and support to give children with diabetes and their families the tools they need to live happy, healthy, balanced lives. Because of her own experience with diabetes, Ms. Davis feels compelled to help others cope with the disease.

“No matter what life sends her way, she looks at others worse off and considers herself blessed,” said a colleague.

Nurse practitioners partner with physicians to provide high-quality primary, acute and specialty health care.  They help to empower patients by developing individualized and comprehensive health education and counseling.  At Good Samaritan Hospital, NPs on staff have expertise in areas such as acute and chronic care, neurosurgery, perioperative medicine, geriatrics and pediatrics.  She resides in Bellport.
