St. Francis Open Heart Surgery Program at Good Samaritan Hospital Receives Special Blessing

The multidisciplinary team of the St. Francis Open Heart Surgery Program at Good Samaritan Hospital received a special blessing, prayers offered for doctors, nurses and other staff members as they prepared for the program’s first patients. At the "Blessing of the Hands" event, chaplains blessed the hands of healers. Good Samaritan has appointed Christopher La Mendola, MD, Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Open Heart Surgery Program along with his colleague, Maksimus Rovensky, MD, to lead the team that includes experienced registered nurses, mid-level professionals, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, technologists, and others in bringing the unparalleled open heart surgery care for which St. Francis Hospital, the Heart Center,® is known to patients from throughout Suffolk County.

“Thank you for this special blessing today, said Dr. La Mendola.” “Like the mission of Good Samaritan, physicians are obligated to promote excellence in care and commit to the sick.”
