Volunteering through the Guilds of Good Samaritan

Donating Time and Talent

The Guilds of Good Samaritan are a group of men and women who volunteer their time and service for the benefit of Good Samaritan. The volunteers have been working for the Medical Center since 1958, one year before its opening. In addition to donating their own time, they coordinate and organize fundraisers ranging from card parties and garage sales to annual events such as the Ladies’ Golf Tournament, Holiday Gift Wrap at the South Shore Mall and Bake and Plant Sales. These events have raised more than $7,000,000 to benefit the programs and services of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center over the last four decades.

Volunteers work in almost all departments, from the Coffee, Gift and Thrift shops to the Emergency Department and Same Day Surgery. They also make the rounds of patient areas each morning with newspaper, gifts and arts and crafts carts. Their time, energy, talents and smiles are an invaluable contribution to the overall operation of the Good Samaritan.
