As a Center of Excellence, the Rehabilitation Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy and orthotic services to patients of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. The care at Good Samaritan is unique, including hands-on treatment in a one-to-one setting with a dedicated therapist. The clinical staff is comprised of compassionate, highly skilled, licensed therapists who receive continual education in the latest therapeutic techniques.
Outpatient Services The outpatient clinical staff is comprised of highly skilled physical, occupational and speech-language therapists. These licensed therapists provide the finest integration of patient care and education to adult and pediatric patients. The therapists treat patients diagnosed with a wide range of disorders and diseases, including orthopedic and neurological conditions. The therapy provided is highly individualized to each patient’s needs and is based on a thorough evaluation and periodic re-evaluations. Each patient is provided with a customized home program to promote independence. Physical Therapy Services Promotes restoration of function and optimal health for patients with physical impairments due to injury or illness. Occupational Therapy ServicesFocuses on restoring a patient’s ability to perform Activities of DailyLliving (ADL), work-related duties and therapy to decrease functional deficits. Services Provided: - Specialized hand therapy program
- Recommendations and training in the use of assistive devices.
- Treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow and wrist and hand such as fractures, tendon lacerations and repetitive strain injuries.
- Evaluate and treat cognitive deficits, coordination impairments, low vision and perceptual problems resulting from stroke and brain injuries.
Speech-Language ServicesRehabilitation to maximize recovery from speech, language or swallowing disorders. Services Include: - Speech and language evaluations and therapy

Pediatric Physical, Occupational and Speech ServicesThe goal of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Program is to further a child’s development and function so that he or she may achieve the age appropriate skills necessary to perform daily life activities within the school and home environment. Our physical, occupational and speech therapists are trained to evaluate and treat a variety of conditions exhibited by children from birth through school age. Outpatient Services are available: Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 8:30pm Saturdays from 7:00 am to 12:00pm Inpatient Services As part of an inter-disciplinary team, physical, occupational and speech-language therapists provide comprehensive care to patients in the hospital. Whether suffering from illness, recovering from an injury or recuperating from a post-surgical procedure, therapists provide rehabilitative therapy to restore movement and improve function allowing patients to return to their previous level of independence. The clinical staff provides care to patients on every unit in the hospital from youngest patients in the NICU to geriatric patients in the specialty units. All patients admitted to Good Samaritan are screened by a physical therapist to assess their rehabilitation needs. Specialty Inpatient Service Include: - Cardiac Rehabilitation
