Assemblyman Boyle Secures $10,000 Grant for Good Samaritan
West Islip, NY – Assemblyman Phillip Boyle has secured a Community Capital Assistance Program Grant in the amount of $10,000 for Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. This funding will be used for capital renovations in the hospital’s Special Care Unit (SCU), which accommodates the most ill and fragile patients. Specifically, the funding will go toward a new Central Monitoring System manufactured by Philips Medical Systems called the IntelliVue Information Center. It is the most up-to-date technology for central monitoring stations and clinical workstations and is designed to meet the unique needs of each patient in the SCU.

Good Samaritan President and CEO Richard J. Murphy stated, “IntelliVue’s integrated technologies will help proactively provide the most advanced care to our patients. It will help prevent complications and will improve patient safety, outcomes, comfort and reduce length of stay. Aiding patients who are in the SCU requires a comprehensive approach to each individuals needs. Good Samaritan has found value in this equipment to help provide each patient the maximum opportunity for recovery.”

Mr. Boyle has supported Good Samaritan in the past, and has recently secured another grant for the hospital’s very successful Stranger Safety Program created in 2004 with the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation. The program provides appropriate educational material for children ages four through nine.Using puppets to promote stranger safety awareness, the program presents tips to help avoid harmful and dangerous situations.
