Good Samaritan Nursing Home Hosts Its First Community Health Fair Sayville, NY â Good Samaritan Nursing Home held a community health fair on Thursday, October 11. The fair, organized by Community Health Educator Georgeine Bellando, Nursing Home Senior Administrator Michael Quartararo and Community Leader Kay Porter, featured free medical screenings, assessments and information.
A grant sponsored by Legislator William Lindsay financed the costs of the Health Fair. Mr. Charles Bove, Senior VP and CAO of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, was present to introduce many community leaders including Marion Cohn, legislative aide to William Lindsay, Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan, Councilman Christopher Bodkin, Assemblywoman Ginny Fields, Senator Ceasar Trunzo, Assemblyman Phil Boyle and Kay Porter who were on hand to assist with the fair and meet and greet all attendees. Mr. Lindsay was able to visit the Nursing Home recently, and receive personal thanks from both Charles Bove and Michael Quartararo. All attendees benefited from the services provided at the health fair, including glaucoma, cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose screenings and a senior assessment program, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy and nutrition. The Good Samaritan Nursing Home (GSNH) in Sayville blends high tech with the healing touch in a facility that employs a holistic approach toward nursing home care with the emphasis on the well being of residents. Their moto: âRx: Daily dose of Love.â Living up to this motto, staff members of the Nursing Home and Good Samaritan Community Health Department, assisted attendees with information, screenings as well as delicious food, snacks, gifts and raffles to make the day enjoyable as well as educational for all.
