Residency Program at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center

Welcome to the Department of Medical Education at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.

We are the premiere institution for Osteopathic Medical Education in New York State offering residency training programs in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN. We also offer residency training in Podiatric Medicine. The institution is a continually expanding state-of-the-art facility training residents to become leaders in medicine and surgery.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 437 bed medical center and the largest provider of emergency medical care on Long Island. The hospital is a major clinical campus of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, Good Samaritan is a clinical site for many other medical schools offering a multitude of student rotations. The institution has achieved the prestigious Magnet™ designation for excellence in nursing care.

Application Process

Application to the Residency Program is made through ERAS®. ERAS®, the Electronic Residency Application Service, is a service which transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation, MSPE’s, transcripts, COMLEX scores, and other supporting credentials from applicants and medical schools to us using the Internet.

Application Requirements

  • Completed ERAS Application
  • Medical School Transcript
  • COMLEX Scores
  • Personal Statement
  • Dean’s Letter or Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Letters of Recommendations (minimum of three, at least one preferably from an emergency medicine physician)
  • Recent Photograph (optional)
